The development of Warner Bros. Movie World to Movie Park Germany

Warner Bros. Movie World opened on a 40 hectare site offering a wide range of attractions and shows on the theme of movies. The park was divided into five experience worlds, each based on famous Warner Bros. movies and successful German productions. A total of almost DEM 400 million was invested in the new park and the adjoining film studio.1999
Germany's first wooden roller coaster opened. Other new rides such as the top spin, "Riddler’s Revenge“, and the "Looney Tunes Tea Party" opened.2000
Six Flags Inc. became the new owner and operator of the park, and five new rides were introduced: Blazing Saddles, Josie’s Bathhouse, Tom & Jerry’s Mouse in the House, Looney Tunes Carousel and the Marienhof Carousel. Season tickets were introduced.2001
The "Eraser" loop-the-loop coaster and the "Tweety’s und Sylvester’s Treehouse“ opened. The Halloween Horror Fest in October turned out to be a popular crowd-puller.2002
The 60 metres-high free fall tower, "The Wild Bunch" opened.2003
The show concept was extended. The new attractions in the 2003 season were "The Real Hollywood Stunt Show" and "The Wild West Screen Test Action Show", plus the "Aaron Hypnosis Show" and the "Big Mumpitz Show".2004
Change of ownership when Six Flags Inc. sold its European parks (except Warner Bros. Movie World in Madrid) to the British private equity partnership, Palamon Capital Partners, in April. Movie Park Germany became part of the StarParks Group as a result.The license agreements with Warner Bros. expired at the end of this season.
2005
The movie and entertainment park opened under the new name of "Movie Park Germany" featuring the heroes from Ice Age as new characters. Three new rides were launched: Ice Age Adventure, the world's first ride based on the blockbuster movie "Ice Age", the 4D-Cinema with SpongeBob Square Pants and the "Time Riders" flight simulator.2006
Movie Park Germany made investments to improve the infrastructure and presented a new movie museum, a new stunt show and a revised studio tour. The park celebrated its 10th anniversary on 2 June.2007
This season, Movie Park Germany is opening two new theme areas and seven new attractions. The park has signed up for an extensive joint venture cooperation with NICK TV, resulting in Europe's first Nickland with seven attractions at Movie Park. The "Cop Car Chase" roller coaster has been demolished make way for the new Santa Monica Pier theme area.In October the first NICK Kids’ Choice Awards are presented in Movie Park Germany. Many national and international stars take part.
2008/2009
Movie Park Germany continues its joint venture cooperation with NICK. The Nickland is doubled in its size and presents a total of 16 attractions for adults and children. The Nickland in Movie Park Germany is now one of the biggest NICK- theme areas worldwide.Furthermore Movie Park Germany has signed up for a joint venture cooperation with Universal / DreamWorks and presents SHREK as new character. A 4-D-film starring SHREK, Fiona and Co. is shown in the 4-D- movie theatre Roxy.
2010
From May 2010 new comic heroes are presented at Movie Park Germany: The X-Men will be battling it out with masters of evil in an exciting live action show featuring spectacular stunts and sensational special effects. Not only the Comic Superheroes will be present on stage in the 2010 season. There are two additional new Hollywood shows on the programme. The motto of the new "Movie Switch" show is "Curtain Up" for a musical journey through the most beautiful movie theme tunes. In the saloon, guests can look forward to a genuine El Dorado for big and little cowboys at the "Wild West Showdown", where gunslingers and pioneers attempt to conquer the heart of sweet Loretta with world-famous songs and barnstorming dance interludes.
